Back when we were all but manhandling our earth, the tag line eco friendly, was just that: a tag line that was mentioned in some marketing messages of large companies but was never really practiced or given much weight. The 2012 international energy conservation code aims to move the building industry as far as it can from our dark and wasteful past.
There are a few things that the 2012 international energy conservation code pushes for and focuses on. First, more sustainable, if not recycled, building materials like the innovative PET bottle origins of the ultra-tough walls of the Taiwan’s EcoARK. It lays down guidelines for more sustainable practices and waste management. There are simple ways to make a building energy efficient, from ventilation, like small open air buildings designed to circulate fresh air from the outside to cool the place to simply changing the arrangement of rooms for them to receive as much sunlight as possible. These two ways cut down on energy consumption for air conditioning and lighting, simple, fundamental, easy to do changes in the plans that will make a huge impact on the way energy efficiency of the building. What all businesses now understand is that even though such changes and practices can cost a pretty penny at the onset, the long time savings and efficiency will more than make up for the upfront costs.
